‘Talent from Trash’ is a new initiative from ‘Coca-Cola’ to encourage fans to recycle their household waste, and in doing so earn money for their favourite participating Football League Club’s youth programme.
We want fans to make a pledge every day to recycle more and we’ll reward them for their efforts. Together, fans and their friends and family can raise up to £18,000 for youth development at their local Club.
And it’s not just fans team who’ll benefit. Each time they make a daily pledge, they are entered into a free prize draw; the lucky winner will net their Club an extra £10,000 and win a personal reward of £5,000!
Plus! If fans make more pledges for their Club than anyone else, they’ll score a ‘money can’t buy’ prize from your Club!
Your Club can earn between £200 and £1,000 each week depending on the number of pledges received. So, make a pledge every day and encourage your friends and family to get behind your Club and do the same.
Fans Club can also win a one-off prize of between £1,000 and £6,000 if the level of recycling in their community increases throughout the autumn compared to the same time last year.
The promotion runs for 12 weeks from midday 5th September 2007 – midday 28th November 2007. Please see terms and conditions for full details.
There are 13 Football League Clubs participating in this promotion and their respective local councils:
No, the promotion is not linked to purchase and is not on-pack – it is a recycling initiative to encourage fans to recycle more of their household waste to raise money for youth development.
Fans make their pledge at http://www.talent-from-trash.com
One pledge can be made in each 24 hour period. A 24 hour period is 12:00 midday to 11:59:59 the following day.
Fans should recycle their usual household waste – what they can easily recycle using the recycling services provided by their council will vary from area to area – but the most common materials are glass, paper, aluminium, steel, cardboard and plastic. They can usually be taken away right from their doorstep, or they may take them to local collections points such as those in Tesco carparks. More information on what can be recycled in each council area is available at http://www.talent-from-trash.com
Household waste for this purpose is defined as aluminium, steel, glass, plastic, paper and cardboard products.
They can recycle in three ways:-
All information about recycling in the participating council areas can be found at http://www.talent-from-trash.com
Recycling is recorded and measured by participating local councils – they must report the amount of material they are collecting each month to the Government. If the level of recycling in a council area increases by up to 4% over the promotional period compared with the same period last year, the associated Club will earn between £1,000 and £6,000, depending on the level of increase in recycling. Broadly, the more your community recycles, the more cash the Club stands to gain.
In order for recycling in a club’s area to be accurately measured, clubs will be working with a relevant local council, and the subsequent recycling levels in that council area alone will be attributed to the club. Therefore if they do not recycle within the particular participating council area, their recycling will not contribute to the associated club’s tally.
Fans can, however, still help to raise money for their club by pledging to recycle more every day and helping the club to attain its weekly pledge target. And in keeping their pledge to recycle, they will still be helping their local area to reduce the pressure on landfill space and natural resources.
Fans can enter the promotion by making a pledge at http://www.talent-from-trash.com and by physically recycling more of their household waste. Fans cannot enter this promotion via SMS.
To enter, fans visit the website http://www.talent-from-trash.com and pledge to recycle more for their chosen Club. Fans can also earn cash for their Club by physically recycling their household waste through their local council’s services or through Tesco recycling facilities locally.
Fans will receive a message on-screen informing them that their pledge has been entered, or a bounce-back message if they have already entered in that 24 hour period.

Yes, fans will need a mobile phone number to enter in order that future winners can be contacted via mobile phone.
No - to enter, fans must have a permanent, valid email address and must be contactable on the same mobile phone number they use for entry. In order to be recognised as the same user and accumulate pledges you must use the same mobile phone number and email address every time you pledge. The number of pledges which individual fans have made will be used to determine the winner of the ‘money can’t buy’ prizes for each participating club.
Fans are advised to check they have entered their details correctly and have not tried to enter a second time within the 24 hour period – only one pledge can be made in each 24 hour period.
The website will report weekly updates of:-
Plus, at the end of the promotion the website will report the achieved increase in recycling in each council area.
The fan who makes the most pledges during the lifetime of the promotion will be awarded a special prize from their Club – TBC from each Club when confirmed. If there is more than one fan who makes the most pledges, a draw from the highest pledging fans will decide the winner.
Clubs can earn up to £18,000 for youth development. £12,000 can be raised through pledging every day and £6,000 can be raised through physically recycling household waste. Fans who make a pledge on the website will be entered into a free prize draw to win an additional £10k for their Club and a prize of £5k for themselves.
There are 13 Football League Clubs participating, from the Championship, League 1 and League 2. The remaining Football League Clubs, Premiership Clubs and Scottish Premier League Clubs are not part of this promotion.
Unfortunately their club is not participating in this promotion, therefore they cannot raise money for their youth programme in this way.
